Jose Angel Medina, PATRULLA 81 lead singer, begins working on his dream in 1981. At last, he reached his dream in 2003 in the United States interpreting the new genre that is sweeping the nation, “musica duranguense” (music from Durango, Mexico).

His limited financial status at the beginning, forced him to acquire a melodeon (a small reed organ) instead of an electric keyboard. The sound of the melodeon grew in popularity and it is now the unique sound of PATRULLA 81.

While in Denver, PATRULLA 81 learned that there was a new interesting movement in Chicago, a “musica duranguense” movement initiated by Jose Luis Terrazas of Montez de Durango.

In October 2003, PATRULLA 81 recorded their first record in Chicago titled “Como Fui a Enamorarme de Ti.” This record went on to become a national hit in the United States.

Their record “Divinas” sold over 400,000 copies, earning PATRULLA 81 a fourfold Platinum Record.

PATRULLA 81 released their latest album “A Mi Ley” in December 2007. The promotional single “Te Quiero Mucho” has become a mega hit.
