AT&T Fiesta Broadway
Los
Angeles CA, (Tuesday, February 27, 2007)
– Pepe Aguilar, one of the most celebrated voices
in the world of Latin music, has been named “Grand
Marshall” of this year’s AT&T FIESTA
BROADWAY, scheduled for Sunday, April 29th. The popular
Cinco de Mayo festival is staged annually
throughout the streets of downtown Los Angeles and
attracts nearly 500,000 people.
With
a towering reputation to match his 6’5”
frame, Pepe Aguilar has continued the popular Ranchera
music traditions established by his legendary father,
Antonio Aguilar Sr. Antonio was honored at Fiesta
2005 along with his wife, Flor Silvestre, and his
other son, Antonio Jr.
“We’re
proud to finally add Pepe Aguilar to our 18-year old
history of hosting the top stars of Latin music”
said Fiesta’s Talent Director, Abraham Contreras.
“All of the Aguilars are living legends of Mexican
Show business, as well as here in the United States
.”
Pepe
made his singing debut in 1973 at six years of age
in front of a sold-out Madison Square Garden crowd
at one of his father’s concerts in New York
City . His appearance brought down the house –
and his performance was eventually worked into the
regular show. He started as a solo-star 17 years ago
– and in 1998 his breakthrough came when he
sold over two million copies of “Por Mujeres
Como Tu” which was among the top 10 most
requested hits on the Latin charts for 52 consecutive
weeks.
In
2002, Pepe became the first Mexican regional music
singer to perform at the Hollywood Bowl. He was also
the first Hispanic to sing at the Kodak Theater. Pepe
Aguilar will make his debut at Fiesta Broadway which
is now in its 18th and most exciting year.
